The first of three pieces created together, Community is what I felt when I finished this. The variety of colors and textures and the layers of them all creating a community. Some threads are bolder – some with more spacing between the stitches – and some stitches holding together a group of loose threads, all feel like community to me.

The third piece in this series is titled, Self. In contrast to Community and Family, this piece contains more isolated areas of stitching. I feel like it represents my thoughts – my brain – a lot of content that is, at times, chaotic and other times smooth and controlled. Peace and chaos existing simultaneously.
