I took a photo of my son napping on the couch with his cat a few years ago. It is such a sweet image – we rescued this cat from the group of stray kittens in our yard. These two were instantly friends and remain close after seven years.
I remember watching him sleeping there on the couch so peacefully. I was thinking about holding him in the hospital the day he was born, staring at his beautiful face, in awe of this child that we created – excited and a little worried about how his life would evolve. Excited to see him grow and follow his dreams and worried about what obstacles he might face during his life. Parenting is the most difficult job I’ve ever had and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The ups and downs of emotions – mine and his – are worth every second to see the accomplishments and joys he gets to experience.
